2. One Book, One Community Series The Durham Public Library and the Levi E. Coe Library have joined forces to present a "One Book, One Community" program. The theme this year is Small Town Life and Empire Falls, by Richard Russo has been selected as our community read. For more information check out Patch's announcement.
3. Sen. Suzio Visits Zygo State Sen. Len Suzio will tour . Zygo, Middlefield's top taxpayer, is a worldwide supplier of optical metrology instruments and complex electro-optical systems manufacturing services.
“I am looking forward to the tour,” Suzio said. “I continue to push for pro-business policies at the State Capitol, and I want to hear from Zygo employees about what they think should be done to make our state more business-friendly. We want companies like Zygo to continue to thrive and grow jobs here.”
Suzio recently joined the bipartisan Manufacturing Caucus in the state legislature. The group will focus on policies which benefit Connecticut manfacturers.
4. Senior Picnic Today The Durham Senior Board hosts at the Durham Activity Center. The menu includes tossed salad, egglplant, potato salad, hot dogs & hamburgers, and deserts.
5. Blue Devils Football Schedule Released We're not wishing Summer away, but Fall will be here before we know it. This week Coginchaug High School's football schedule was released. The season kicks off Sept. 15 at Nonnewaug High School. The team's only game under the lights comes on Nov. 9 at Haddam-Killingworth. The season wraps up against Cromwell on Nov. 22.
