A Message to Youth and Families of Durham and Middlefield

A Message to the youth and families of Durham and Middlefield from Jon Brayshaw, Middlefield First Selectman, Laura Francis, Durham First Selectman, Resident Troopers Kelly and DiGioia, Dan Miramant, Durham Fair President and Betsy Dean, Director of Durham Middlefield Youth and Family Services.

The Durham Fair marks the arrival of fall, and showcases outstanding food, entertainment and shows for thousands of guests.  This year, your peers - through a new campaign - are asking you to "BE THE ONE".   When it comes to healthy decisions YOU take the lead because YOU have big plans for your life.  The decisions YOU make and the actions you take are yours.  The consequences are also yours. "BE THE ONE" to take positive actions for yourself and your future.  We are asking you as community members to help keep each other safe and drug-free because you matter to us.

Please note that several public safety improvements will be implemented at the Durham Fair this year. There will be Connecticut State Troopers and security guards at all entrances and random backpack searches will be conducted.  Also, several undercover officers will be on the grounds on patrol for underage substance abuse.  These measures are put in place to help keep everyone safe.
