Obituary: Douglas DiMella

World War II veteran was a volunteer firefighter in Durham.


Douglas DiMella, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012.

Visiting hours are today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Epiphany, 196 Main St., Durham. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Mica Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Durham Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 154, Durham, CT 06422.

DiMella was known locally for owning a Civil War drum, which now sits at the Durham Public Library.
