Middlefield Muscle Car Shop Owner Brian Chaffee Dies at Age 50

"He was a pillar of strength that was an inspiration to everyone that knew him."

 

Brian R. Chaffee, 50, of Lakeside Avenue, Middletown, was called to the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Brian leaves behind his soulmate, best friend, business partner and wife, Paula (Spada) Chaffee, of 27 years, and his 15-year-old son, Bryan L. Chaffee, who was his pride and joy.

He was born in Middletown, the son of Dorothy (Gladwin) Chaffee Balamucki, of Middletown, and the late Howard L. Chaffee, Sr.

In addition to his wife and son, he leaves behind his brother, Howard L. Chaffee, Jr., of Middletown; his sisters, Charlene Wright and husband, Bob, of Pawcatuck, Kathie Basso, of Vernon, Camille Harrington and husband, John, of Wethersfield, Patricia Chaffee, of Mystic; also several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his in-laws, Sebastian and Janine Spada, who were more than in-laws to him, they were his special friends, his sisters-in-law, Tracey Wall and husband, Michael, Linda Latronica and husband, John, all of Middletown, his best friend of 48 years, Eldon Bailey and his nephew, SSG Kenneth Ordonez, formerly of the U.S. Army, who is like a son to him. 

Brian was the owner and operator of E-Muscle, LLC in Middlefield and will be remembered in the muscle car industry for his passion for classic and muscle cars. Brian demonstrated the true meaning of the phrase "Fought a Courageous Battle." He was a pillar of strength that was an inspiration to everyone that knew him. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and he was a role model and father figure to all of his nephews. Brian will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and loved him so much. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, Sunday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. Pall bearers will be Bryan Chaffee, Eldon Bailey, Adam Von Gootkin, Kyle Secore, Matthew Secore, John Latronica, Bob Wright and Mike Wall.
