Anna Mae Jarvis, 93 years young, of Enfield, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at her residence.
Born in Middlefield on February 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Louis C. and Katie (Hajec) Kokoszka, both from Poland. On November 8, 1952, Anna was married to Wilfred E. Jarvis and they spent 56 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009.
After they wed, they relocated to Enfield and were communicants of St. Martha Parish. In Anna’s free time, you could find her in her garden, growing fresh vegetables or rarely losing in board and word games with her children. She also carried on her love for sports after many years of playing basketball by cheering on the UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Anna was the sweetest spirit with quite the comedic side and she will be sorely missed by the lives of those she touched.
She is survived by her three children, Cynthia Erwin and her husband, Ted, Donna Montgomery and her husband, Tony, and James Jarvis; her beloved granddaughter, who was always by her side growing up, Toni Montgomery; her twin sister, Mary Mucha, and two other sisters, Camille Gagliardi and Rita Adams; a brother, Stanley Kokoszka; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Will, and her parents, Anna was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services for Anna will be held on Thursday, May 29, beginning with a procession at 9 a.m. from Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., to St. Martha Parish, 214 Brainard Rd., for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery.
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the funeral home.
