Solarize Durham (and Middlefield) Program ends December 14 - Call Today!

Solarize Durham Only Until December 14th. Call Today!

A Mark in Time.

When our home was built there was neither indoor plumbing nor electricity and it was still legal to own slaves.  The home was heated and the cooking was accomplished by burning wood.  Clothes were boiled clean and then hung in the yard to dry. Today Dana and Tim of BeFree Solar are installing an upgraded electrical service and by this time next week the new solar panels will be harvesting the energy of the sun that has been shining on this home for over 160 years. Sweet! My family’s carbon footprint will be considerably lightened by this move. With the money we will not be spending on heating and lighting, this move will not even impact our family budget. Climate change is definitely being felt across the globe. We have fairly gentle weather here in CT, but sea level rise and extreme weather are clear signs that burning fossil fuels and irresponsible practices around the world are having very serious effects.

Alright, enough science and history, if you live in Durham or Middlefield and you want to start cooking with solar you only have 14 days to take advantage of the amazing State rebate program  (30%!!). You need to sign a contract with BeFree Solar by December 14, 2012.  Call 888-596-2922 or go to befreesolar.com and get them out to your home. Originally this program came with five incentive tiers so that as more Durham homes came on board, the price would get better.  It looks like Durham will achieve about twice the total Kws required for the highest discount.  What that means is that if you are socializing over the next month, and most people are, you are going to be hearing some pretty excited people talking about their beautiful new systems, and shockingly low electric bills. Now, maybe you’ve got some beloved tree shading your roof, maybe the house you call home just isn’t situated for solar. But unless you live on the north side of a thickly wooded ledge, you would do well to give these guys a call and let them take a look and give you a quote.

One more thing, regarding Middlefield, while this is a Durham program, the folks at BeFree are willing to give the same tier five pricing on any contracts signed by Middlefielders until that same December 14th deadline. So stop reading now and call!!

The traffic signal is a DOT project. I called today and spoke to the project manager who could notRead More give me an exact date of the start of construction and said he'd get back to me. That was a over four hours ago. The project, as indicated at several meetings, is scheduled for sometime this summer. The funding was put in last year and will carry over because the project is not yet ongoing.

We live on Hubbard St. in Middlefield, but there was a sighting of a very similar sounding cat inRead More the Skeet Club Road area. I'm waiting for the poster to see this photo to let me know if she thinks it's her.

Lisa, I am sorry to say this doesn't look like the kitty that has been around our house. Your MaddieRead More has more white on the chest. Do you have a picture of her from the front? I think her feet have more white, too. I'm sorry. I will keep my eyes open though. If you have another picture, I can post it at the store.
