Lessons I've learned from my first year with Mora

Mora arrived in CT last August on a huge transport truck , along with several other rescue dogs from Mississippi. The 10 month old pup quickly adjusted to her new home and family. She is my affectionate shadow and has taught me several important things over this past year.

  • A small treat is as satisfying as a large one
  • If you meander long enough in the woods, you're sure to find a way to the parking area.
  • Working at the sink is a lot easier with a furry head resting on your foot.
  • A long walk or two every day is good for the mind as well as the body.
  • A dog never runs out of licks for those she loves.
  • Every day is a good day, especially if it includes a Frisbee.
  • It's OK to rest for awhile.
  • You can climb rocky, steep hills better than when you were younger.
  • There are worse things in life than a little dog hair on the floor.

Thanks, Mora, for bringing me laughter, companionship, and a "purpose" in my retirement.
