8 Little Known things About Me....

I  figured I would start my new blog with a challenge presented to me by a dear friend of mine. Like many Americans, I love Facebook.  It keeps me connected with my two brothers who  are out of state, as well as with friends and family from  childhood, high school, college, and my varied nursing career. My friend Korri presented me with the number 8: 8 little known things about myself.
 So, here we go!
1. If I hadn't become a nurse, I would have liked to  pursue writing.  That makes sense,  as my mother was an English teacher, and my brother was a journalism major.  However, back  then, doubted I had enough discipline and/or creative thoughts.  This might have come to light if I let number 2 and 3 on this list take over my determination to become a nurse.

2. I nearly flunked out of nursing school freshman year.  Anatomy and Physiology.  By the grace of God and the patience of my family, I pulled  through.

3. I overdosed a patient my first day in  the hospital. What an awful feeling.  Taught me a huge lesson in humility and the 5 Rights of Medication  Administration.

4. I wanted to  have at least 6 kids.  I love children, but I was very young and childless when I came up  with that number.

5.  I do indeed have 6 children.  I have 3 children here with me: Erin 16, Elizabeth 6, and Liam nearly 4.  I have 3 babies in  Heaven.  With each loss, I mourned, but in  hindsight I realize nothing is on  my timetable, but on  God's.  My life is the way it is because it is the way it was meant to be.

6. If I hit the lottery, I would go to culinary school.  I love to cook, but would love to learn how to really cook; ie. how do you really cut up a chicken??  I would also like to  learn to  cook delicious and nutritious meals for my family and friends.

7. My bucket list item is to complete the NYC Marathon  in 2018 at the age of 50.  At age 43 I completed my first of three half marathons.  So the sky is the limit!

8.  I am afraid of tunnels; especially underwater tunnels.  My idea of hell was the drive I took to Virginia Beach on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in the rain. Worse 20 minutes of my life.
Thank God the NYC Marathon  route does not include the Midtown or Lincoln Tunnels!
