You wouldn't expect a builder to come in and dig a foundation without a plan - so why are you designing without it?

Make use of the new tools available like Pinterest. You can find lots of great ideas for your design. Create a board and start pinning! Once you have your plan in place it is easier to attach pricing to it. Then work on your plan according to your budget.
Like all planning, this can get tedious and hard - especially if you get all excited for the overall design but can only do one aspect of it.
