Sweet & Sour Pork Profiteroles with Sorrel Foam and Corned Beef Hash are just two of the tastings that will be offered to guests at the 17th Annual Taste of Durham February 2, from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., at the Durham Public Library. Tickets at $30 each are limited and the event is always a sellout. Organizers say that ticket sales, which take place at the library, are brisk.

Local participating restaurants are Cozy Corner Restaurant & Pizza,  Durham Market and Caterers, Kim’s Cottage Confections, Lino’s Market and Caterers, Little Rooster, Perk on Main, Santino’s, Spice Catering, and Time Out Taverne. Anoho Asian Noodle House, David Alan Catering, Cold Stone Creamery, Stella D’Oro, Haveli of India, Matty’s Next Door Sports Bar, Tschudin Chocolates, and Typhoon, all of Middletown, are coming as are Lyman Orchards Farm Market, GZen, and Brenda’s Main St. Feed with her take-home pet treats.  Bruce Schmottlach and Deep Ellum will provide musical accompaniment for the evening.

Attendance at the event is limited to adults  The entry fee includes unlimited food tastings as well as three servings from the bar.

The Taste of Durham is sponsored by the Public Association of Library Supporters PALS, the support group for the Durham Public Library. The party will go on regardless of weather.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
