AARP Driver Safety Course

AARP is sponsoring a one day Driver Safety Program November from 12:30 to 4:30 at the Durham Public Library. The four hour refresher course is designed for motorists who are 50 years old and above. Pre-registration is required for the program. Payment must be made at registration. There is a fee of $12 for materials with AARP membership (card must be shown when registering,) for all others the fee is $14(check or money orders only.) Veterans and their families attend free.


Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, the impact of aging and medications on driving, current basic driving rules, avoiding driving hazards, adjusting to adverse road conditions and accident prevention measures. Moreover, those who are 60+ years old who complete the course are eligible for a discount on their car insurance.
