Letter: Middlefield Town Clerk Donna Golub Seeks Reelection

Golub, a Democrat, has served as Middlefield's town clerk since 1998.

The below posting is a letter to the editor from Middlefield Town Clerk Donna Golub.

Dear Middlefield/Rockfall Residents,

I have serve as your Town Clerk since 1998 and it has been an honor for me to have served you all. My husband Richard and I have lived in Middlefield since 1977. I am currently certified through the State of Connecticut, Secretary of State's Office and am a member of the Middlesex County Town Clerks Association and the Connecticut Clerks Association. I also serve the town as the Registrar of Vital Statistics, the Assistant Treasurer and a Notary. Prior to becoming Town Clerk I worked as a Paraprofessional at John Lyman School. Now, students from John Lyman School have the opportunity to visit the Town Hall to learn about the Town Clerk and her duties and responsibilities.

I have served on many different Boards and Commissions in the town, such as: Levi E. Coe Library, Durham/Middlefield Youth and Family Services, Regional District 13 Reapportionment Committee, Middlefield Senior Advisory Board and also was elected as Registrar of Voters in the 1980's.

In my role as Town Clerk, I am committed to preserving Middlefield's historical records. This is being done by applying for and receiving grants from the State of Connecticut Public Records Administration to electronically index our town records. To date, I have scanned and indexed the town survey maps dating from 1860 to present. I have also started to scan other documents such as land records and I am presently starting to scan all board and commission minutes onto archival paper so they will last forever. All of this is being done at no extra cost to the residents of Middlefield/Rockfall due to the grants. I am asking for your support for re-election on November 5th for the privilege of continuing to be your Town Clerk.

Sincerely,

Donna M. Golub, Town Clerk
