What's Your Favorite Fair Food?

From pancakes to pierogies, steak and cheese to sugar covered doughnuts, it's hard to pick just one.

It may just be the most difficult decision you'll face at this year's Durham Fair: What to eat?

The choices are tempting. The calories, well, who's counting?

Patch takes the guess work out of picking "The Best" fair foods by asking fair volunteers to share some of their favorites:

Giant Sugar Covered Dougnuts
Kara Drenzek - Superintendent of Green Stage

"These giant doughnuts are so delicious that it wouldn't be the Durham Fair if you didn't get at least one each day. They are one of those fair foods that make it the best fair there is. The warm and fluffy, GIANT doughnut covered with as much sugar as possible is the best way to start the day at the Durham Fair. They are located near the Coginchaug Benchwarmers and the Lion's Club booths up the big hill."

Shepards Pie Baked Potato
Kathleen Naples

"Simply delicious and you do not run out of any topping on a Johnny Potato. They are all awesome but this is my new favorite. Best potato in the state!"

Pierogi and Potato Pancakes
Nancy Currlin - Entertainment Center Stage

"My favorite food is the Pierogi and Potato Pancakes at the Polish Booth near the Benchwarmers... not as good as my mother's, but now that she's gone it brings back fond memories of her."

Hot Apple Crisp w/Vanilla Ice Cream
Charlene Hicks

"It hits the spot later in the evening when the temperature drops."

Steamed Cheeseburger
Norm Hicks - Coordinator of Directors

"A. It is delicious; I only eat one burger per year (anywhere) and this is it! B. It's from the VFW."

Steak & Cheese, Clam Chower, Pancakes and Raised Donut
John LaPointe - Superintendent of Center Stage

"I really think this is a trick question…..how could any sane person possibly choose just one?" Steak & Cheese (next to the Tractor Pull); Clam Chowder (Chowder Heads, Next to Durham Co-Op); Pancakes (Elks Club Booth); Raised Donut (next to CRHS)
