Video: Durham Actor Leads Production of "Santa Bowed at Christmas"

The Meriden YMCA's holiday production features almost 30 local students in a musical aimed at putting the "true meaning" back in Christmas.

Meriden Patch caught up with the YMCA's Meriden Youth Theatre, including Durham's Tom Seibert, as the cast walked through their first technical rehearsal for the holiday musical "Santa Bowed at Christmas," Monday on the stage at Thomas Edison Middle School. The group will perform two shows this Saturday, Dec. 17 at the school at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The play is religious in nature, and centers on a group of children helping Santa Claus understand the place of Jesus Christ in Christmas through classic and new Christmas songs. About 30 local children from Meriden and surrounding towns perform in the show, according to Acting Director Carolyn Daniels, and Santa is played by Meriden's newly elected City Councilor Kevin Scarpati.
