Update: Driver Recovering After Crashing Into Tree in Durham Last Week

New Britain man is listed in fair condition at Hartford Hospital.

A New Britain man who crashed his pickup truck into a tree last week along Route 68 in Durham continues to recover at Hartford Hospital.

Shaun Greaves, 51, was listed in fair condition on Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Police say Greaves was traveling east on Route 68 when he lost control of his truck near Maple Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

The vehicle crossed into the opposite side of traffic before hitting a tree near the United Churches of Durham.

Several good samaritans rushed to help Greaves, according to one witness, and called 911.

He was initially taken to Middlesex Hospital, before being flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
