Investigators are trying to find the source of a "diesel odor" that is believed to have originated from the rebuilt Kleen Energy power plant in Middletown, and spread to Durham in recent days, according to the Hartford Courant.
The odor was reported to the Department of Environmental Protection by residents in Durham, Middlefield and Portland, the report said.
Investigators plan to return to the site of plant Wednesday, according to the report.
Six workers were killed and more than two dozens others were injured in an explosion at the plant on February 7, 2010.
Lawmakers, including state Rep. Matt Lesser, have proposed legislation to improve power plant safety measures in the wake of the tragedy.
