Update: Is Trick-or-Treat Still Happening in My Town?

Killingworth will hold a "Trunk-or-Treat" while Durham is encouraging parents and children to be safe and stay home.

Patch reached out today to town officials to determine whether trick-or-treat would go on as normal. Here's what we were able to find out:

Durham

The town is encouraging parents and children, first and foremost, to be safe. Because the town does not have power there are no street lights to provide safety for parents and children walking along neighborhood streets.

"We are encouraging people to keep their Halloween celebrations inside," said Durham First Selectman Laura Francis.

The Killingworth Women's Organization has organized a "Trunk-or-Treat" at Haddam Killingworth Middle School from 5-7 p.m. Monday night. Parents and children are encouraged to attend, some candy will be provided, but bring the candy you intended to give out to share.

"The parking lot will be well lit so parents and their children can go from trunk to trunk and it will be safe," Killingworth First Selectman Cathy Iino tells Patch.

Middlefield

We were unable to reach officials in Middlefield, but it's safe to say that because the town does not have power that parents and children should play it safe.

We'll update you with anything we hear.
