Using a pirate boat and handmade banners, opponents of the Haddam land swap followed Daniel C. Esty from Deep River to Haddam on Thursday night to protest his agreement to swap 17 acres his agency owns in the Tylverville section of Haddam for 87 acres in Higganum and to give the 17 acres to a private developer who wants to build on the land.
