Mr. Lesser Goes to Washington

5 Questions for state Sen. Matt Lesser as he prepares for Friday's visit with President Barack Obama.

On Friday, state. Rep. Matt Lesser (D), who represents the 100th District (Durham, Middlefield and Middletown), will travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Barack Obama and members of his administration at the White House.

Patch had 5 questions for Lesser as he prepared for the visit:

1. What are you wearing to the event?

"I'm just wearing a regular suit. I won't have my flag pin, but maybe I can get one."

2. Are you bringing a guest?

"I'm not, I didn't have the opportunity. I had a lot of requests, but we're not able to bring guests."

3. Are you being offered breakfast, lunch or dinner?

"I'm meeting with the President in the afternoon. I don't know whether they're going to serve us food. I am going to have lunch at the White House, but it's not with the President."

4. Is there a specific issue or question you will raise with the President?

"Everybody wants to know what we're gonna do to get the economy back in gear to create jobs. We've been in this mess for a couple of years, people are sick of it."

5. Are you nervous?

"(Hesitates) I'm not nervous. I've been frantically trying to get my dry cleaning done. But, nervous? No."
