Update: Coginchaug Will Serve As Only Emergency Shelter for Now

Residents are being asked to prepare to be without power for several days.

Middlefield officials had to cancel plans Sunday to use Memorial School for an emergency shelter following Saturday's record snow storm due to a water problem.

As a result, residents in need of shelter are being directed to go to the shelter at Coginchaug High School.

The shelter will be open 24 hours a day and residents will be provided cots, food, electricity and showers.
