Memorial Day Parades and Ceremonies Schedule

Here's what's happening in Killingworth, Durham and Middlefield on Memorial Day.

 

Killingworth

Killingworth’s Annual Memorial Day Parade steps off at 9 a.m. at Sheldon Park (Route 80) on Monday, May 28. 

The parade will proceed west along Route 80 to the rotary and north along Route 81 until reaching the Congregational Church. Following the parade, a wreath laying ceremony involving the town's Gold Star family will be held at the World War I Memorial. Ceremonies also include a military flyover and the National Guard Firing Squad.

Durham

The 2012 Durham Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9:15 a.m. at the corner of Haddam Quarter Road and Main Street on Monday, May 28.

The parade will travel down Main Street to the Durham Town Green, where a ceremony will honor our nation’s servicemen and servicewomen. Peter Valenti will be Grand Marshal of the parade. The parade will take place rain or shine. 

Middlefield

Middlefield will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Town Green starting at 8 a.m. The event is organized by the Middlefield/Rockfall VFW Post 10362. Local dignataries will speak and a wreath will be laid. Following the ceremony wreaths will be laid at Middlefield Cemetery and North Burial Ground Cemetery.
