Meet the Candidates for Durham Board of Assessment Appeals

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8

Katharine W. Forline (D) To fill 2-year vacancy

Age: 52

Family: Married to John C. Forline, a teacher in RSD 13. Two children, 19 and 15. One currently at CRHS

Education: BA, Mount Holyoke College "81

Occupation: 27 years CT Licensed Proffessional Massage Therapist locally and on the shoreline, 3 years part time at Durham Fitness.

Offices Held: ZBA, Currently on BoAA for the past year after being appointed to fill a vacancy.

Civic Affiliations: DAR, Wadsworth Chapter

Personal Statement: I currently serve on the BoAA, having been appointed to fill a vacancy.  I thank   Rob Raney, our chairman, for kindly guiding me through my first year. It is a pleasure to assist the residents of Durham as they seek to correct their assessments.   I believe in the importance of supporting our community by paying our fair share of property taxes and  I also believe that the citizen's right to appeal  is a  fundamental privilege of our democracy. I am honored to help protect that privilege in this small way, as a member of the Board of Assessment Appeals.
