Update: Crews Restore Power to Schools, Part of Maiden Lane Still Closed (Video)

Crews spent the overnight removing a down tree and repairing power lines.

Crews worked overnight to restore power to homes and schools in Durham, after Thursday's storm downed a tree and power lines on Maiden Lane.

A section of Maiden Lane, from Guire Road to Wheeler Hill Drive, will likely remain closed through Friday, according to Francis Willett, the town's emergency management director.

Early Friday morning workers re-routed power from Main Street to Korn School and Coginchaug High School, as well as Picket Lane, Guire Road and Wheeler Hill Drive.

"CL&P is expected to return sometime Friday to start repairs to this section and return services to the six residents who will be without power until repairs have been completed by utility companies," Willett said.

The Public Works Department has closed the area of Maiden Lane between Bear Rock Road and Wheeler Hill Drive to all vehicle traffic.

Maiden Lane in Durham is closed between Wheeler Hill Drive and Bear Rock Road as a result of a downed tree and wires.

Emergency crews on scene are waiting for Connecticut Light and Power to arrive, according to Francis Willett, the town's emergency management director.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, 28 CL&P customers in Durham did not have power.
