Jafaria Association of Connecticut (in Rockfall) held a gathering on Saturday, Sept. 10, to commemorate the infamous September 11, 2001 attack on humanity in general and United States in particular.
Community members and neighbors of Jafaria Association condemn the perpetrators of attack which caused thousands of innocent lives.
The local Imam, Sheikh Tabarssi addressed the congregation to explain the meaning of Islam.
He said “The God of Islam is the God of Jesus, God of Abraham and God of all prophets (may peace be on them) mentioned in holy books of monotheist religions”.
Sheikh mentioned that any individual who cause destruction of innocent life and property is in violation of command of God.
He cited the words of Holy Prophet (May peace be on him) that “Ignorant who claims to be religious will break the backbone of religion."
He said that the perpetrators of attack on innocents are nothing but ignorants. He emphasized the importance of justice, quoting the words from holy Quran chapter 4 verse 135, which says “O you who believe! be maintainers of justice, bearers of witness of God’s sake, though it may be against your own selves or (your) parents or near relatives."
According to him, the notion of justice is the binder of people from different faiths. He takes the example of revolution in Egypt, where Christians and Muslims created a bond to establish the justice in society recently.
He mentioned that religion of Islam emphasizes accountability, quoting the verse from holy Quran chapter 99 verse 7 and 8; “So, he who has done an atom's weight of good shall see it. And he who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it."
Sheikh ended the lecture with the prayer to Almighty to help us to develop the ability to co-exist in society and establish peace and justice.
The session ended with Brother Dr. Ali Shakibai reciting the verse from
holy Quran for those innocents who lost their lives during the infamous attack of September 11.
Jafaria Association located on Meriden Road, Rockfall, serves the community by conducting the inter faith programs to increase awareness on teaching of Islam.
