Flooding Leads to Road Closures

Heavy rain expected to end by mid-Monday morning

Several roads were closed Monday morning as a result of severe flooding caused by heavy rains and melting snow.

Route 147 from Lyman Road to Cherry Hill Road - which runs parallel with the Coginchaug River - remained closed as of 7:30 a.m.

Strickland Road in Middlefield was closed at Route 157 (Main St.).

Accoring to the Dept. of Public Works other problem areas include:

  • Meeting House Hill Rd., Durham
  • Guire Rd., Durham
  • Haddam Quarter Rd., Durham
  • Parmelee Hill Rd. & Route 17, Durham
  • Foothills Rd., Durham

No major problems were reported in Killingworth.

According to the National Weather Service the rain is expected to end by mid-morning and sunny skies are forecast by afternoon with temperatures in the mid 40s.
