First Frost of the Season Expected This Weekend

We could see frost on the ground Saturday morning, but the rest of the day is expected to be sunny with a high near 54 degrees.

 

A freeze watch is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday morning could bring widespread frost, the NWS says. Temperatures could drop low enough to kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, the NWS says.

The extended weekend forecast for Durham and Middlefield is as follows:

Friday Night: Widespread frost after 3 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 29. North wind 3 to 8 mph.

Saturday: Widespread frost before 9 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 54. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54.
