Everything You Need to Know for Labor Day Weekend

A message from Durham Emergency Management and other useful updates for your weekend.

According to CL&P, more than 90% of the town will be restored power by later tonight (Friday September 2nd). If you have not been restored power by later tonight, you may be without power over the weekend. There will be crews in town, just not as concentrated as the last few days.    

The shelter at Coginchaug Regional High School will be closed at 9 p.m. tonight. Food and water will be distributed to those people who may be without power over the weekend at Coginchaug High from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.  If you need any special assistance, Please call the Storm Line (860) 343-6735. If you have an emergency please call 911.  

If you are still without power tomorrow, it is imperative that you report your address to CL&P at 1-800-286-2000. 

Please help us distribute this information to your friends and neighbors who may be without phone or internet service.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Traffic Alert Starting on Tuesday, September 6 for a period of 3-4 days, (if all goes well) work will begin on grinding the bituminous paving on Route 147 (Baileyville Road) from Guida’s to Main Street. Try to avoid this area.

The actual final layer of paving on 147 will not take place until after the Durham Fair.

Also keep in mind that Route 157 is also scheduled for paving following the work on 147.

The 12th Annual Corn Maze at kicks off Saturday, September 3, at 10 a.m

Hot showers are available for residents at Coginchaug Regional High School today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring your own soap, shampoo and towels. Also available at Haddam-Killingworth High at 3 p.m. today. Bottled water available as well as outlets for charging electronics.

The transfer station on Cherry Hill Road at the Rt. 147 intersection is open today until 7:45 p.m. and tomorrow, Sat. Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Click for the station's guidelines.

HAPPY HOUR BOOT CAMP Today, Spet. 2, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the , a total body workout that fuses resistance exercises and cardio for an invigorating experience. Free and open to all.

100th Haddam Neck Fair Time to get the kids out of the house! The fair will go on at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Haddam Neck Fairgrounds.
