This year's Durham Fair is still more than six months away but it's never too late to get involved with the fair by becoming a volunteer.
Every year, hundreds of volunteers organize the four-day fair that attracts thousands of vistors from Connecticut and beyond during the last weekend in September (Sept. 27-30 this year).
Currently, the Durham Fair Association is looking to fill more than two dozen positions — everything from an assistant historian in the Education Department to Gate volunteers.
"Being a volunteer for the Durham Fair Association is like being a member of a huge family," says Karin Thody, Secretary for the DFA. "It feels like you help all of the organizations that are involved with the fair or use it for fundraising, somehow. There are so many ways to volunteer and levels of involvement in this group. It is heartwarming to see the results of your efforts at fair time."
Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer can contact Thody at secretary@durhamfair.com. To make things easier, be prepared to share your interests so that you can be pointed in the right direction.
