Daily Five: Sunny and Warm, Good Citizen and Judge's Oath

Five things to know for Monday, April 8, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Tonight:A chance of showers after 9 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 46.

2. Good Citizen Coginchaug High School senior Lauren Trombetta is one of six students that will receive the Wadsworth Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution's “Good Citizen Award" tonight during a ceremony at Middletown City Hall. The Good Citizen Award recognizes high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of a good citizen: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. The recipients are chosen by their schools because they best demonstrate these qualities in their homes, schools, and communities.

3. Parents' Forum on Tuesday Parents are invited to attend a forum on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Coginchaug High School Library. Topics include the search for a new principal, the recent NEASC visit and the school budget.

4. Oath of Office Middlefield resident Melanie L. Cradle, who was nominated to the Connecticut Superior Court earlier this year, will be given the oath of office today by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy at the State Capitol.

5. Golf Tournament to Benefit Firefighters There's still time to sign up for the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company's upcoming golf tournament at Lyman Orchards on May 17. More details here.
