Daily Five: Powder Ridge Update, BOE Election Correction and Labor Day Fun

1. What's the Weather? Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 90. Light southwest wind increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

2. Powder Ridge Update A closing on the sale of Powder Ridge to Brownstone owner Sean Hayes has been scheduled for Thursday, September 13. Check back with Patch for further details.

3. BOE Election Correction Durham resident Eileen Buckheit was elected to the Regional School District 13 Board of Education at a special town meeting on Aug. 6 and will serve the unexpired term of former board member Thomas Hennick, who stepped down this summer after being re-elected in May to a 3-year term ending in 2015.

The town has corrected the minutes of the Aug. 6 meeting to reflect such.

4. Save the Date The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority will hold an electronics recycling event Saturday, Sept. 15, in Middlefield from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Colman Church, 145 Hubbard Street.

CRRA has added bulk paper shredding and recycling to most of its residential electronics collections, so now you can recycle those old papers and other items with personal information that you don’t want to put in the trash.
