2. Durham to Elect New BOE Member Tonight A special town meeting will be held at Coginchaug High School tonight at 8 p.m. for the following purpose:

  1. To elect one member to fill a vacancy of unexpired portion of term on the Regional School District #13 Board of Education, said term to expire June 30, 2015.
  2. To elect one member to fill a vacancy of unexpired portion of term on the Compensation Review/Personnel Policy Commission, said term to expire October 2014.
  3. To adopt an amendment to the Ethics Commission Ordinance dated 2/19/08.

4. Yarn Needed! The Middlefield Senior Center knitting groups are in need of yarn.  The group knits and crochets afghans for the Middlesex Cancer Center and the MidState Cancer center.  The group uses only 4 ply worsted weight yarn. Any donations can be dropped off at the center during regular business hours or left by the office door.

5. Lyman Orchards' Sunflower Maze featured on NBC Connecticut NBC Connecticut's Jason Hawkins recently visited Lyman's Sunflower Maze, which will be open through August. 

The REMAX Balloon will visit Lyman Orchards Aug. 11-12 to give guests a bird's eye view of the Pirate Ship Sunflower Maze. Rides are $5 each and 100 percent of the dollars collected will go directly to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center! For more information:http://bit.ly/McCDhU
