Five things to know for Friday, November 2, 2012.

2. Power Update By midnight Thursday 180,00 homes and businesses throughout Connecticut were still without electricity as a result of Hurricane Sandy, according to Connecticut Light and Power's outage map.

On Thursday, about 150 customers in Durham temporarily lost power when crews were forced to make a repair. At this time no other work is planned.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
