Daily Five: History of Durham Lecture This Weekend

1. What's the Weather? Sunny, with a high near 43. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.

2. The History of Durham Think you know everything there is to know about Durham? Visit the Durham Public Library on Saturday, January 12th, and be surprised! Durham historian Fran Korn will share his extensive knowledge of town history. The lecture starts at 2:00 p.m.

3. Get Your Common Core Questions Answered Curriculum Night at Coginchaug High School will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Julian B. Thayer auditorium. Learn more about the standards, see examples of the new assessments, and get answers to your questions including: 

  • Are there differences between what my child is learning now and what he or she will learn in the next two years? 
  • What about the other core subjects such as science and social studies?

4. What's Going On in Town? Are you interested in knowing what your local boards and commissions are up to? This meeting is open to the public:

The Board of Selectmen invite you to attend a joint meeting of all boards, commissions, elected officials, and town agencies on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall, 3rd Floor Meeting Room. In accordance with Section 4-3.3 of the Town Charter, this meeting presents an opportunity for communication between members from all of Durham’s town government. Chairmen and elected officials should extend this invitation to all their members

5. IWWA Site Inspection Middlefield's Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency will conduct a site inspection at Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort on Saturday, Jan. 12.
