Daily Five: Grand List, Sandy Hook Sings and Winter Trails Day

Five things to know for Monday, February 4, 2013.

 

1. What's the Weather? Increasing clouds, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 13 to 16 mph. Tonight: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.

2. Middlefield's Grand List The Board of Selectmen will discuss the impact of the town's grand list, which was released last week, at tonight's meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Community Center. The total taxable property in the town increased by less than one percent. Check back with Patch Tuesday for a full report.

3. Sandy Hook Sings 26 students from Sandy Hook Elementary School sang "America The Beautiful" at Super Bowl XLVII. Watch it here.

4. Winter Trails Day is Saturday On Feb. 9, the Connecticut Forect & Park Association will host the annual Winter Trails Day celebration. Join Women of the Woods for an hour-long snowshoe hike in the Highlawn Forest in Middletown. Free trial of snowshoes provided by REI & EMS. 5. Save The Date The 5th Annual Help Willy’s Friends Pet Fair organized by Help Willy's Friends will be held on Sunday, May 19 from 11:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. at Coginchaug High School. More details to follow.
