Daily Five: Bathroom Update, Project Special Teacher and Apple Hunt Delayed

Five things to know for Thursday, March 21, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? A slight chance of snow, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Tonight: A slight chance of snow before 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

2. BOE Bathroom Break District 13 Board of Education chairman Kerrie Flanagan announced at Wednesday's BOE meeting that she'd received a proposal from Durham resident Karen Cheyney to renegotiate part of the stipulated agreement between Cheyney, the board and Durham's planning and zoning commission.

Under the terms of the current agreement, the school district is required to install a bathroom facility at the site of the athletic complex by April 2014. But, Cheney has agreed to remove the deadline from the agreement.

"Which removes pressure from the board at this point to seek out funding to construct that building and incur the debt associated with it," said Flanagan.

Patch reported last month on the proposal, which still requires approval of all three parties.
