Daily Five: Cooler Weather Today, No Subway and Santa Visits Middlefield Tonight

Five things to know for Thursday, December 6, 2012.

 

1. What's the Weather? Sunny, with a high near 42. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.

2. No Subway Town officials said Wednesday that plans to open a second Subway restaurant on Main Street in Durham have fallen through. Initially, the owner of the Subway located at the Grippo's Mobile station had expressed interest in opening another restaurant at the former location of Durham In Bloom.

3. Click It or Ticket Campaign State Police from Troop F are taking part in the national High Visibility Safety Belt Campaign and urging drivers to buckle up.

"Motorists can expect to see State Troopers stopping violators for seatbelt violations and all motorists should be prepared to utilize theor seatbelts," a press release says. "Many highway traffic deaths are attributed to failing to wear a seatbelt which is why State Troopers will be out in force throughout this campaign."

The current crackdown will continue through Dec. 16.

4. Santa Visits the Levi E. Coe Library Don't miss the library's annual Giving Tree/Holiday Open House tonight from 5:30-7 p.m.
