Daily Five: Blue Devils Continue Quest for State Title

Five things to know for Monday, June 4, 2012.

 

1. What's the Weather? Make sure you have your umbrella handy this week, and maybe a coat too. The National Weather Service says the showers should arrive Monday afternoon, with a high near 60. Tonight: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 48.

2. Quest for a State Title The travels to West Haven today to take on Morgan in the Class S softball tournament semifinal. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Directions: FROM I-95 NORTH & SOUTH: Exit 42 (Saw Mill Road). At the end of the exit take a right onto Saw Mill Road. Continue on this road (past the WH Police Dept.; under railroad bridge) which will lead into Kelsey Ave. Go straight on Kelsey Avenue (you will pass Painter Park on your right) until you get to Captain Thomas Boulevard. Take a right onto Capt. Thomas and then another quick right (Dyke Street). Follow this road into the WHHS Complex.

3. Powder Ridge Update Middlefield's Board of Selectmen will meet this afternoon in executive session to discuss final revision of a sales agreement between the town and Sean Hayes. Powder Ridge will also be discussed at tonight's BOS meeting at 7 p.m. at the Middlefield Community Center.

4. John P. Hine Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament The tournament is a major fundraiser for the Killingworth Library Association. The tournament will be held on Thursday, June 14th at Lyman Orchards Golf Club. The captain’s scramble format will be played on the Jones Course and the event features warm-up on the putting green and driving range, lunch, 18 holes of championship golf, appetizers, beer, wine and soda following golf, delicious dinner, raffles and prizes.

Every participant will also receive a Lyman Orchards pie for playing! $165 per golfer. Contact Shelly Cumpstone at 860-391-2747 to be part of this year's adventure.
