Enjoy today's mild weather because there's trouble brewing. Forecasters are now warning that Hurricane Sandy could slam into the East Coast as Frankenstorm. You can't make this stuff up.

2. Be Safe, Be Informed The towns of Durham and Middlefield both offer emergency alert notification systems that warn residents of an emergency, including severe weather and power outages, as well as provide critical information.

4. Cheerleader Cupcakes The Coginchaug cheerleading team will be selling cupcakes for $1 at this weekend's Blue Devils home game to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

5. MOMS Club Open House Today The MOMS Club of Durham and Middlefield is holding an Open House today at the Middlefield Community Center, where you can get to know club members.

Take a tour of the nearby Middlefield Firehouse, then return to the Community Center and let your kids play with a ton of toys and other children. A great way to take a peek at our club and see if you'd like to join.

The Open House starts at 10 a.m.
