Daily Five: Boyle, Augur Recognized at CHSCA Football Banquet

1. What's the Weather? Scattered flurries. Partly sunny, with a high near 25. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -1. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

2. Boyle Wins Player of the Year Middlefield's Tim Boyle was named the high school Player of the Year at the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association's 2012 football banquet dinner on Jan. 20. Boyle led Xavier High School to the team's third straight Class LL state championship in December.

Coginchaug High School football co-captain Ian Augur of Durham was also recognized at the event for earning a spot on the Class S all-state offensive team.

3. Potluck Supper and Movie What better symbol of small town life than a potluck supper? Bring a favorite appetizer or casserole to share with your neighbors and then watch part one of the award winning HBO adaptation of Richard Russo's Empire Falls, starring Paul Newman.

4. Magic Show to Support Project Graduation Put it on your calendar: CRHS Project Graduation presents The Magic of Christopher on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at Coginchaug High School.

5. Lyman Homestead Tour On Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m., come tour the Lyman homestead and learn about its history. Space is limed and registration is required at the Levi E. Coe Library or Durham Public Library.
