2. Girl Scout Cookies Join Girl Scouts from Durham and Middlefield as they kick off the 2013 Cookie Program this weekened, Jan. 5. Girl Scouts will be taking orders at the Westfield Meriden Mall in Meriden. Check back with Patch for order opportunities in town.

3. Coginchaug Little League Online registration for all new and returning players began on Jan. 1. Regular registration ends Jan. 31. Check out CCL's announcement on Patch for more details.

4. One Book, One Community From our friends at the Durham Public Library: Our first One Book, One Community event is [today], Thursday, January 3rd at 7:00pm. Join us for this informative discussion of our 2013 book selection, Empire Falls (by Richard Russo)! The discussion will be held at the Durham Public Library.

5. Governor Meets with Small Business Owners  Governor Dannel P. Malloy will meet with a group of more than 30 small business owners from across Connecticut today, including Aperture Optical Sciencesin the state’s Small Business Express Program (EXP), which provides loans and grants to small businesses to spur growth and job creation.
