Daily Five: BOE Meets Tonight to Discuss School Budget

Five things to know for Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

 

1. What's the Weather? A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Tonight: A slight chance of showers before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. 

2. BOE Meets Tonight The District 13 Board of Education will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Strong School to discuss the 2013-2014 school budget. The meeting is open to the public.

3. Scientist Visits Lyman Elementary School Scientist and parent Kimberly Lentz visited third and fourth graders in Mrs. Hadlock's class at John Lyman School where her son, Aidan, is a fourth grader. Mrs. Lentz talked about States of Matter with the children. After demonstrations with carbon-dioxide, the students performed their own chemical change experiments.

4. Durham Assessor’s Office Hours The Assessor’s office will be closed Thursday March, 14, 2013 for training seminar. Applications for Senior Tax Relief will not be accepted on this day. The Assessor’s office will re-open Friday for regular hours

5. Early Childhood Open House Independent Day School welcomes new parents to meet the teachers of the school's Beginners Program for 3 year olds, PreK, Kindergarten and 1st grade on Saturday, April 6. More details here.
