Core Club Hosts Party In Pink

Zumbathon raises money for breast cancer research and awareness charity.

Dozens of women, some of them breast cancer survivors, worked up a sweat at Core Club in Durham Friday night to help raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Party In Pink Zumbathon event was led by certified Zumba instructor Deborah Cook of Killingworth and Jose Navarro of Hamden.

"Breast cancer has touched my life through a personal friend, and it's important," said Cheryl Salva, Core Club's owner.

"This event is so important because they feel blessed that they're here. They can share their experience and support others and just make people aware that this is something we need to combat," she aded.

The event also included a raffle, which included a one-year free membership to Core Club, two personal training sessions and a massage.

100 percent of the proceeds from Friday night's event benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
