Carriage Rides, Music and More at Mansion Open House

Celebrate New Year's Day by visiting the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown.

 

The 13th Annual New Year’s Day Open House at the will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1 and feature horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Allegra Farms and music by The Eight O’Clock Choir of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Weather permitting, there will be of the 1908 estate. All activities are free. 

The magnificent grounds were planted by Colonel Clarence Wadsworth on land that was traversed by indigenous people and later cleared for pasture, orchards and farming by the early settlers.  The renowned Olmsted Brothers and Charles W. Leavitt contributed to the landscape design that is formal and classical near the mansion with managed forests and pastures on the remainder of the estate. The palatial gilded-age mansion will be open for tours, light refreshments and music.

The Eight O’Clock Choir has just released a second CD  “He’s a River of Strength and Consolation” featuring 16 songs, 13 of them original compositions. They will be welcoming the New Year with uplifting songs of comfort and encouragement.
