Benefit Concert Raises $15,000 for Paralyzed Teen

A benefit concert held this weekend for Zack Bernier, a Clinton teen partially paralyzed in June after falling at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, raised about $15,000.

Chris Horvath, pastor at the First Church of Christ Congregational in Clinton, called Saturday's event a "big success."

"We had tremendous support from the community and the young adults who put this event on deserve all the credit," Horvath said by phone.

"We reached our goal," he said, adding that the money will be used to help pay for Bernier's medical care.

Bernier, who has been involved in intense rehabilitation since the accident returned home this weekend and attended the fundraiser at the  according to Horvath.
