The Taste of Summer at Lyman Orchards: Locally Grown Peaches Available to Pick

The taste of summer continues at Lyman Orchards with the arrival of fresh, locally grown peaches and they’re ready for you to pick, take home and enjoy in your favorite dish. The peach variety currently available is the clingstone, indicating that the sweet flesh of the peach clings to the pit or stone. Free-stone peach varieties will be available around August 10th.  Free-stone peaches are the best for canning.

“Peaches are a wholesome snack that is packed with nutrients and essential vitamins,” said John Lyman III, executive vice president and 8th generation Lyman family member. “They taste great on their own, but also taste great in pies, cakes, parfaits, ice-cream, salads and much more. Come down, spend some time out in the orchard and pick up some fresh peaches for you and your family. There’s nothing like a ripe peach picked right off the tree.”

The peaches are eco-certified, grown using agricultural methods that preserve and protect the orchard’s ecology. The peach season typically lasts until late September, depending on weather conditions. Lyman Orchards is currently in full swing of its pick-your-own season with a variety of berries available, including blueberries, jostaberries and raspberries. Families are invited for Berry Fest on Saturday July 13 for summertime fun that includes a pie-eating contest, horse drawn wagon rides, live music on the deck of the Apple Barrel and much more.
