If ever an event offered something for everyone, it was the 10th annual Wadsworth Mansion Open Air Market and Festival in Middletown Sunday. The live music careened seamlessly from Frank Sinatra to samba to polka to big band and back again and hundreds upon hundreds of families and couples — and a veritable encyclopedia of dog breeds — strolled along the 700-foot grassy vista at the rear of the historic and stately Italianate home in Middletown.
The began the day, followed by the city's own Joey Milardo and the Musical Cavaliers and Tune Chic of Branford finishing off the afternoon with rock, pop and blues — all sponsored by the where commissioners passed out balloons to children (and some adults) of all ages.
Just a few of the myriad of local vendors included ' all-natural play clay; Hunter Hill Alpacas of Bristol's alpaca products, yarn, and knitted items; Three Sisters Farm of Essex with honey, soaps, skin creams, beeswax candles; Star Light Gardens of Durham with heirloom tomatoes, salad greens, garlic and arugula; Auntie Arwen's (of Haddam) seasonings, herbs, salts, blends, spices and teas; Ballek's Garden Design and Old Lyme's Four Mile River Farm.
