Perk On Main's Environmental Efforts Highlighted in Newsletter [Poll]

The DEEP writes about the Durham coffee shop's focus on sustainability in its Spring 2012 newsletter.

in Durham is featured in the Spring 2012 Pollution Prevention View, a newsletter published by the Connecticut Department of Engergy and Environmental Protection's Office of Pollution Prevention.

The newsletter highlights the restaurant's efforts to run a sustainable business.

"Quite honestly, the recognition feels nice," said owner Katie Hughes. "Sometimes it's nice to take a second to look back and see what you have done, and not be focused on what there is to do, if only for a moment. I only wish it wasn't so much about Mark (Katie's brother and co-owner) and I, but more about 'the team at Perk."

Editor's Note: Last month, Perk On Main was picked as a Readers' Choice for the best place to get coffee by Patch readers.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
