Middlesex County Career Fair Set for Oct. 29

Looking for work? There will be more than 45 companies at this career fair in Cromwell.

The below information came from a press release from the state Department of Labor.

More than 45 employers will be on hand to talk with jobseekers during the Middlesex County Career fair from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 110 Berlin Road in Cromwell.

The event is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce, and Workforce Alliance.  Company representatives will be available to meet one-on-one with attendees about possible openings for entry level to management positions with their company.

“Jobseekers will have an excellent opportunity to meet with potential employers, and can also speak with job search experts from our agency,” said State Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer.  “Employers often tell us that they look forward to the Middlesex County Career Fair because it provides them with an excellent forum in which to find prospective job-ready candidates.”

Professional résumé writers from the Labor Department will be available to review résumés and provide helpful critiques.  The “Successful Job Search Campaign Messages” workshop facilitated by staff from the agency’s Employment and Training Unit is designed to help those currently unemployed and those seeking a new career direction will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  Topics include résumé tips, using social media, and interviewing techniques.

The fair takes place in the hotel’s ballroom, and admission for jobseekers is free.  Registration for companies wishing to participate is $275 (plus an additional $25 if electricity is needed).  Fee includes a skirted table, table signage, program guide listing, and extensive advertising on radio and the Internet.  In addition, company names will be included in a mailer being sent to 50,000 jobseekers statewide.

Employers can register for the event by visiting www.Middlesexchamber.com or they can contact Johanna Bond of the Chamber at (860) 374-6924 for additional information.  A list of participating employers, employment tips, directions to the hotel and information about the workshops can be found on the Connecticut Department of Labor’s career fair website at www.ctjobfairs.com
