Mental Health First Aid Training Available in Durham

Course Information:

Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) 
MHFA is an 8-hour interactive training course designed to give members 
of the public the key skills to help someone who is developing a mental 
health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Like CPR training 
helps a non-medical professional assist an individual following a heart 
attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps an individual who doesn’t 
have clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. 

Mental Health First Aid Trainees learn the following: 
The prevalence of mental illnesses in the U.S. The potential warning signs of the most common mental health disorders A 5-step action plan to assist an individual in crisis Resources available to help someone with a mental health problem 

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is recommended for: 
First-responders, including police, fire and EMT Volunteers and the general public Employers in the private, non-profit and governmental sectors, including human resources professionals, executives and managers School personnel, including teachers, counselors, nurses and office staff

MHFA certification is being offered locally as follows: 
Date: Tuesday August 20th, 2013* 
Wednesday August 21st, 2013* 
Time: 4:00-8:00 PM 
Location: Durham Public Library 
7 Maple Avenue, Durham 

Course registration free to Durham/Middlefield employees: and includes 3-year certification in MHFA, training, manual, light dinner and handouts 

*Attendance both days required to receive certification.
