Kim’s Cottage Confections

Tasty treats baked fresh for Valentine's Day or any day

The only thing possibly more enticing than the delicious aromas drifting from Kim’s Cottage Confections is the sparkly personality of owner Kim Terrill. You’ll be glad you walked in as soon as Kim flashes her wide, captivating smile from behind her glass case of goodies. Customers can see quickly that Kim bakes because she wants to make people happy; it’s more than a business for this confectioner.

Kim’s Cottage Confections is tucked down in back of Durham Village at 16 Main Street in Durham. Despite the lack of visibility from the street, Kim has built a booming business through word of mouth and customers declare that she is “worth finding.” Kim says her delicious, beautifully decorated confections are baked fresh everyday right on the premises and are made of the finest ingredients.” She has a large assortment of cookies, biscotti, truffles, petit fours and chocolate-coated pretzels, grahams and popcorn available.  Pop-in any time to grab something sweet from her fresh daily assortment.  You don’t have to plan ahead to indulge. Grab and go goodies can also make a quick, yet unique, hostess gift when you are dashing off to party.

Holiday delights are a specialty at the Cottage. Kim's Valentine’s Day confections are decked out right now in reds and pinks, making a perfect present for someone special. A mix of her tasty treats could also be a great family dessert on Valentine's night.

Kim’s Cottage Confections is well known for its success with large events such as weddings and corporate celebrations, but Kim told Patch, “My favorite type of business is that which makes local people happy with sweets for their smaller, more personal celebrations such as grandma’s 85th birthday or a couple’s 8th anniversary.” Decorated cakes are certainly a favorite, but Kim says she and her staff “enjoy creating mini cupcake displays, cookie trays or a mixed assortment of indulgences for the special times in the lives of those who live here.”

Kim has recently added two new treats to her repertoire; Edible Image Cookies and Cottage Kisses.

The Edible Image Cookies show crisp pictures or illustrations such as team or company logos and wedding photos. Kim suggested that “these make a one-of-a-kind luxury dessert and are great for spirit building, promotional purposes or just serving up something unique at your next party.”

Cottage Kisses are new sandwich style delicacies that hold a layer of filling, such as chocolate ganache or raspberry mouse, in between two cookies. “These are available daily for walk-in customers or by special order wrapped in decorative boxes,” Kim explained.

Kim has been happily creating confections for 16 years and moved herself and her family to Durham in 2004.  You can find Kim’s Cottage Confections on Facebook at www.kimscottageconfections.com and at 16 Main Street in Durham Village, down at the back of the lower red building.
